Guided by creativity
Inspired by the world
I am passionate about the world around me. I've traveled a good part of the world and lived and worked on three continents so far.
All my vacations are a bit adventurous and I just love to explore new parts of the world to interact with different cultures and see new wonders of the world. It triggers my inspiration, keeps me creative and it keeps my view on the world fresh.
All these different global influences have an impact on my photography style.
Currently based as a photographer in Ghent, Belgium.
About Timothy De Ridder
Hi there, I'm Timothy De Ridder, a coffee-loving photographer based in Ghent, Belgium with a passion for telling stories with photographs.
My artistic career started with drawing and painting when I was as a kid. So my parents send me to art school where, instead of becoming a painter, I actually fell in love with film photography.
The old school technology of film photography had to move as soon as I discovered digital photography and the power of Lightroom and Photoshop. My interest in these graphical tools and digital possibilities only grew throughout the years and it stimulated me to pursue a degree in Graphic Design where I still had a few hours of photography every week. Which obviously wasn't enough for me, so after my Graphic Design studies I went for a Photography Degree.
Soon after I started working for an agency close to home. Behind my desk I was sometimes wondering about what was to be found on the other side of the world.
So I took a short side trip to Australia where I ended up working as a Digital Marketing Manager in Brisbane for two years. After Australia I worked as a freelancer in Michigan while supporting my lovely wife who had to work at the University of Michigan for her PhD. In the USA I definitely was a typical freelancer who worked from a coffee bar.
Currently back in Ghent, Belgium and working as full time freelance photographer. Not bound to Ghent but open for photography gigs around the world.
All these experiences helped me to develop my own style. I believe in capturing real moments, and I want my work to exist at the place where classical beauty and modern design intersect.
When I’m not snapping photographs, you’re likely to find me hiking in the woods with my wonderful wife. Or you might catch me trail running around mountain tops.
And when I'm at home I'm probably reading books, making coffee or doing research for my next travel destinations.
LET'S CREATE SOMETHING AMAZING TOGETHER
I always try to create authentic moments and capture them as they unfold. Continually blurring the lines between work and life.
